Phyto-synthesis methods are mainly used to synthesize metallic nanoparticles due to its merits such as no need to use high temperature, pressure, energy and toxic chemicals. Conventional methods often involve the plant extracts prepared using methanol and water. In this study, deep eutectic solvents (DESs) were employed to prepare various kinds of extracts of green tea leaves, which were subsequently used to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) from silver salts at room temperature.
