Agrophotovoltaic system that can facilitate both farming and renewable energy generation by erecting photovoltaic panels on the crop land, which can reduce food and energy security. For agrophotovoltaic system, crop with lower light saturation point is ideal for production due to shading by solar panel. Broccoli may be the suitable crop to maximize famer’s profits and energy security through agrophotovoltaic. However, to date, there is limited information on the performance of brassica crops. To address this issue, the growing performance and quality of ‘Early You’ F1 broccoli was evaluated from open-field and under solar panel. The Agrophotovoltaic system was established in Naju, Jeollanam Province, South Korea (34°58'02.4"N, 126°45'55.9"E). Two different bifacial solar panels from different company (bifacial A and B) module arranged in east-west orientated strips, inclined southward with angle of 30◦. The fixed module had a support beam in every space of 4.5m × 4.5m with a height of 3.3 m. As a control, open-field, was located in south of agrophotovoltaic system to avoid to solar panel. To provide yield and quality of broccoli under the agrophotovoltaic panel, broccoli head weight, glucosinolates and their hydrolyzed products, and antioxidant activity were measured.
