Introduction. The aim of this study was to evaluate the bleaching efficacy, microhardness, and surface morphology on enamel surface by newly developed tooth bleaching material containing hydrated calcium silicate (hCS).
Method. Portland cement was mixed with distilled water and ground into particles, which were then mixed with 35% hydrogen peroxide solution (HP) as follows: only HP (HP); 0.25 wt.% hCS + HP (hCS 0.25); 0.50 wt.% hCS + HP (hCS 0.50); 1.0 wt.% hCS + HP (hCS 1.0); 2.0 wt.% hCS + HP (hCS 2.0). Teeth whitening gel was used as a commercial control (CC). The pH and calcium ion release were measured for 15 min, following the thrice application of test and control solutions on discolored bovine enamel surface for 15 min.
