Korean studies in China grew rapidly over 40 years of reform and opening up in China. Among them, the proportion of Korean history is gradually increasing. In particular, Chinese academia is paying attention to the history of the Korean independence movement, and the reasons can be summarized in two ways. At first, it was in line with the invasion of the great powers such as Japanese imperialism, which was a joint enemy of China and Korea. Second, the history of the combined anti-Japanese struggle between China and Korea has important present and future implications for the Korean Peninsula.
From 2016 to 2019, Studies of the history of the Korean independence movement in Chinese academia diverse such as the 3·1 movement and the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, Korean independence activists, military cooperation between China and Korea, the Korean independence movement in the Chinese media, the relationship between the Chinese Communist Party and the Korean independence movement, and the Korean independence movement developed in the northeastern region of China.
The study of these Chinese scholars has several characteristics. First, it was emphasized that the Korean independence movement was possible with the support and support of China. Second, they focused on discovering the justification for a joint protest between the two countries. Third, they tried to highlight China’s view and approval of independent independence, the final goal of the Korean independence movement.
It may be natural that Chinese scholars have tried to reflect the Chinese side’s position and perspective in their research papers. However, I would like to point out some of the following problems. First, the role and status of the Korean independence movement must be evaluated in a more objective and positive way on the joint anti-Japanese front of both countries. Second, it is necessary to actively review the external symbolism and effects of the establishment of a joint anti-Japanese front between the two countries. Third, the anti-Japanese image that the Korean independence movement has shown to the Chinese must be relighted.

중국 내 한국학은 중국의 개혁개방 40여 년을 거치면서 급속하게 성장했다. 그 가운데 한국사는 점차 비중이 높아지고 있다. 특히 중국 학계는 한국독립운동사에 주목하고 있는데 그 이유는 크게 두 가지로 요약할 수 있다. 첫째는 중국과 한국이 연합하여 공동의 적이었던 일본 제국주의 등 열강의 침략에 맞섰기 때문이다. 둘째는 중국과 한국의 연합 항일 투쟁사는 한반도를 둘러싼 현재와 미래에 중요한 의미를 지니고 있기 때문이다.
2016년부터 2019년까지 중국 학계의 한국독립운동사 연구는 3·1운동과 대한민국임시정부, 한국 독립운동가, 중국과 한국의 군사협력, 중국 미디어에 비친 한국 독립운동, 중국 공산당과 한국 독립운동의 관계, 중국 동북지역의 한국 독립운동 등 다양하다.
이러한 중국 학자들의 연구는 몇 가지 특징이 있다. 첫째, 중국의 지지와 성원으로 한국독립운동이 가능했다는 점이 많이 강조되었다. 둘째, 그들은 양국의 공동 항일의 당위성을 발견하는데 주력하였다. 셋째, 그들은 한국독립운동의 최종 목표인 자주독립에 대한 중국의 견해와 승인을 부각하고자 했다.
중국 학자들이 연구 논문에 중국 측의 입장과 관점을 많이 반영하고자 한 것은 당연한 일일지도 모른다. 다만, 다음 몇 가지 문제점을 지적하고자 한다. 첫째, 양국 공동항일전선에서 한국독립운동의 역할과 위상을 좀 더 객관적이고 긍정적인 측면에서 평가해야 한다. 둘째, 양국 공동항일전선 구축에 따른 대외적인 상징성과 효과에 대한 적극적인 검토가 필요하다. 셋째, 한국독립운동 세력이 중국인들에게 내비친 항일 이미지를 재조명해야 할 것이다.
