This study focused on the modern agricultural heritage (Changwon area) which has been neglected so far among the modern cultural heritage, and researched diverse ways to preserve and utilize them effectively. Therefore, this paper aims to establish the database about Changwon area modern agricultural heritages as a basic study, and record of the existing modern agricultural heritages not to destroy and demolish of them any more. Most of the modern agricultural heritages was constructed to increase rice production as a foundation for modern agriculture or rural repair projects during the Japanese occupation. Accordingly, this study surveyed on the modern agricultural heritages to be formed during the Japanese occupation focused on the Dong-eup and Dae-san area(rural areas in the former Changwon city).
As a result of the study, most of the modern agricultural heritage was formed during the Japanese colonial period, and it was found that the preservation condition was very good compared to the time of construction. In particular, it was investigated that most cases are still used as agricultural structures depending on the use at the time of construction. In addition, despite being a modern agricultural heritage, it has a high preservation value in terms of formativeness and usefulness along with historical significance. Therefore, it is judged that it is necessary to create a record, preservation, and utilization plan along with the fact-finding survey, so that it is no longer lost or damaged without the record, and detailed records must be made together with the fact-finding survey. It turns out that there is an urgent need to excavate and preserve so that it does not disappear.
