The purpose of this report is to prepare a plan to participate in the central government-led project for vitalizing the industrial complex of Gyeonggi-Do. This project is to implement a program linking industrial complexes with cities around. To this end, the social network analysis was conducted with the transaction data of the companies in the industrial complex to check the spatial linkage structure of the industry. Assuming Banwol-Sihwa Industrial Complex, the largest industrial complex in Gyeonggi-do, as a core industrial complex, review industrial characteristics between nearby industrial complexes and nearby cities(Hwaseong, Suwon, etc). Policy alternatives were proposed.
First, the Banwol-Sihwa Industrial Complex should be promoted from production-oriented to Urban industrial complex where manufacturing-service industry is converged. Currently, It will be difficult to expect the development of industrial complexes only by mass-production-based industries. Second, it is necessary to change the strategic industry of Banwol-Sihwa Industrial Complex from the existing ‘part and materials industry’ to ‘manufacturing equipment industry’. The manufacturing equipment industry(machinery) is a knowledge-intensive industry that expects a lot of employment and sales growth in the Banwol-Sihwa Industrial Complex. This industry will help the Banwol-Shiwa industrial complex to become more urbanized and competitive space. Third, we need to build the industrial ecosystems for smart manufacturing innovation.
