Metabolomics is a research filed for the study of global change of metabolome, which are intermediates or the end products of cellular metabolism from a living organism. It has been used a powerful tool for metabolic or physiological study and strain improvement in microbiological research. In metabolomics, the reproducible, efficient, reliable, and accurate recovery of all existing metabolite are essential prerequisites to obtain reliable biological data at specific time point. Therefore, the sample preparation including sampling and extraction are critical steps in microbial metabolomics. The optimization and development of sample preparation steps have been studied in last decade using various organisms. This study is reviewed the sample preparation method of various organisms for microbial metabolomics.
