This study was started to take the first step toward expanding social and economic exchanges in Southeast Asia by grasping the social and economic status of Thailand and Vietnam, which are representative countries in Southeast Asia, based on the expansion of Korea's New Southern Policy from the focus of product trade to technology, culture and arts, and human exchanges. Thailand and Vietnam are slow to introduce a social economy compared to Korea, lagged behind in the GDP/per-capita GDP sector, but their pace of development is growing very fast, and the interest in the government-level social economy is growing, which is expected to enable enough cooperation in social and economic-related fields with Korea. The main concern of the social economy of Thailand and Vietnam is the escape from poverty, and although the social economy is being promoted in various ways, it deals with the social economy especially in the agricultural sector. Therefore, if Korea's social economy experiences and know-how are actively shared not only at the government level with Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand and Vietnam, but also at the private sector level, we can expect to expand our social economy internationally and lead Asia's social economy.
