The intention of this qualitative study was to explore the perceptions of peer and teacher feedback. The participants included eleven senior students majoring in English or science education, all of which were interviewed individually twice. Interviews revealed that the students showed strong preferences for teacher feedback and perceived that peer feedback and teacher feedback differed in their quality and quantity. It was found that teacher feedback caused a burden and tension, unlike peer feedback, because students were not familiar with the professor’s feedback styles during individual conferences. However, it was found that the problems of each feedback type had decreased by the end of the semester. In addition, the participants revealed contradictory desires for receiving positive and encouraging comments and at the same time wanting negative feedback as much as possible. Though negative feedback discouraged students to some extent, they strongly expressed the need to receive it in order to get a good final grade in the course.
