This study aims to collect basic data for a possible application in Chinese bridal makeup, thereby providing the cornerstone for mutual understanding and exchange among ethnic minorities in China-through comparison and analysis of the characteristics of traditional bridal makeup in the Uyghur, the Tibetan, the Miao, the Gaoshan and the Korean chosen on the basis of their population distribution and density, which plays a key role in understanding the current trends which traditional customs and culture of marriage in China go along. The Uyghur make eyebrow form a relatively thick, angular look, and use relatively most “dark”, “vivid” colors, compared with other ethnic minorities. The Tibetain make eyebrow look relatively thick, straight and apply “dark” and “soft” colors. The Miao make eyebrow appear a relatively thin-arched look, and use a “dark”, “soft” colors. The Gaoshan make eyebrow look thin and angular, natural and angular, thick and basic or thin and basic, and apply “dark”, “soft” colors–what is similar to the Tibetan and the Miao. The Korean enjoy a natural, basic or straight eyebrow appearance and prefer relatively most bright and light color lips, compared with other ethnic minorities. The five ethnic minorities have a round lip shape in common, with the Uyghur preferring a thick lip look, the Tibetain, the Miao and the Gaoshan similarly a thin lip look, and the Korean a natural lip look. The Uyghur, the Tibetain enjoy “dark” or “vivid” colors while the Miao, the Gaoshan and the Korean prefer “light” or “soft” colors.
