This paper attempts to examine Republicanism as a way to overcome the limitations of traditional unified discourse. Republicans argue that the fundamental driving force coming from their homeland is a political idea that guarantees active participation of free citizens. Republicanism, represented by non-controlling freedom and patriotism, can overcome the limitations of nationalism and neo-liberalism, a traditional unification discourse, and contribute to the promotion of unification awareness among students. Shortly after liberation, the military abused division to justify its dictatorship. This painful history is behind the emergence of a popular society known as the Han people, who internalized the rule of capital today. The republicanism that realizes the value of "Hwapyeong" is a pluralistic and humanistic system of thought.
