The purpose of this study is to verify the influence of the leader"s coaching behavior on the dancer"s psychological need, athlete engagement and athlete burnout. The subjects of the study are 250 dancers attending the department of dance(Korean dance, Modern dance, Ballet) at universities in the Seoul capital area, there were 81 Korean dancers(33.9%), 85 Modern dancers(35.6%) and 73 Ballet(30.5%) according to the major, and 70 first-year students(29.3%), 54 second-year students(22.6%), 55 third-year students(23.0%) and 60 fourth-year students(25.1%) according to the grade. A series of data analysis such as frequency analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis and path analysis were conducted using SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 20.0 program. Bootstrap was performed to verify the mediating effect. The research results are as follows. First, the leader"s autonomous coaching has a significant effect on the dancer"s psychological need satisfaction and athlete engagement. Second, the leader"s controlling coaching has a significant effect on the dancer"s psychological need frustration and athlete burnout. Third, in the relationship between the leader"s coaching behavior and the dancer"s athlete engagement and athlete burnout, the mediating effect of psychological need was significant. In conclusion, it suggests that the dancer"s engagement and satisfaction for dance can improve or degrade according to the leader"s coaching behavior.
