This paper discusses the aspect of reappearance in the independence movement and the matter of nationalism that TV drama in 2019 realized, focusing on 〈Different Dreams(異夢)〉(MBC, 2019) that was begun with the purport of commemorating the 100th anniversary of the March First Independence Movement and of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. 〈Different Dreams〉, which did put up Kim Won-bong as an independent activist who defected to North Korea, seemed to be a work that reveals the Moon Jae-in government’s historical consciousness most clearly among texts that addressed the independence movement. By the way, the production crew escapes from touching Koreans’ collective memory and emotion on the colonial period, with focalizing on a friction relation among the Japanese and on these people’s internal conflict. In addition, it embodies another ethnic groups who help a fighter for independence, deals with friendship of characters who crossed border, and proposes a method that the three East Asian countries coexist. Even if having not been intended positively as a result, the characters and the world view in 〈Different Dreams〉 have an aspect of seceding from the recently overheated anti-Japanese feeling and propaganda. This is also a reason that needs to pay attention to 〈Different Dreams〉 in relation to imagination on ‘from this day’ of nationalism even though having failed in the dimension of the topic-hood and the box office performance.
