In this study, we analyzed the Export Similarity Index and the Constant Market Share of Japan and Taiwan, which are competing with Korea"s top 10 export products to China.
First, Korea"s market share in China is higher than that of Japan and Taiwan. By item, they were significantly higher in the HS 9013, HS 2902, HS 2710, HS 8529, HS 2901, and HS 8548 items. Second, in terms of export competition between Korea and Japan, Korea and Taiwan are nearly zero, the export structure is different. HS 8542"s export competition with Taiwan products increased significantly to 0.999 in 2018, indicating that the competition with Taiwanese products has been fierce. Third, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan have seen changes in China"s Constant Market Share. HS 8542 product should be prepared for the pursuit of Taiwan, and the constant market share of Japan and Taiwan is increasing. Therefore, it is necessary to actively promote competitiveness, cost reduction, rationalization of management and high value added of export products.
