This article examines the changes in Japanese education policy through the revised Basic Act on Education and Japanese High School National Curriculum. The Basic Act on Education(1947) reflected the imperial assimilation policy during the imperialist period. However, after 60 years, the Basic Act on Education was revised in 2006 to reflect the conservative values of patriotism, publicness and morality.
After that, with the prolongation of the Liberal Democratic Party"s Abe regime, the Japanese National Curriculum for school education were revised in 2017 and 2018, and it is expected that Japan"s educational policy and textbook contents will change considerably in the future. The revised Framework of Basic Act on Education has changed significantly in terms of educational objectives and educational administration. The second revision of the Japanese National Curriculum, which was revised after the revision of Basic Act on Education, is the largest revision since World War Ⅱ.
To summarize, Basic Education Law and teaching guidelines have been revised to reflect the needs of conservatives and historical revisionists. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology has made it possible to induce influences in the textbook examination process by revising the regulations, thus increasing the possibility of leading them to Japan-based history education and textbook narrative.
