The alternative holidays and 5-day workweek have contributed to the increase in the number of people who enjoy cycling leisure life such as joining the sports clubs every year. Therefore, domestic sports and outdoor industry have rushed to launch cycling clothing lines with new brands specializing in cycling sportswear. This rapid change Also, an increasing number of female bike riders as part of their leisure life has boosted the sales of cycling wear and gear. In this research, adult females who were aged 30 to 34 and enjoy riding road bikes were surveyed as part of a preliminary study to find out about their cycling clothing brands, preference for cycling pants, and complaints. Among those who had been riding road bikes for at least a year, 3 subjects whose body types corresponded to the standard for women aged 30 to 34 prescribed by the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards within the margin of error were selected. Based on the results of the preceding studies, the present study measured 3D scan data to determine the variation in the body surface for each motion of the subjects riding road bikes. Next, the subjects put on the selected comparison wears A, B, C, and D, and performed basic cycling motions for five minutes to compare the clothing samples, where the best rated pattern was selected and used as the basic pattern. In addition, based on the extension and contraction of each body part found in the analysis of body surface, the cutting lines, selvage and structure of the basic pattern were transformed to make a pair of experimental pants for cycling. The first mobility test and the second EEG analysis found the final pattern fitted and showed the best performance. The proposed pattern for road cycling pants offers superior mobility and fits well on the body. The present findings provide some reference data conducive to the growth of more segmented and specialized sports wear market and the healthier leisure life of women.
