Goamy 2 is a new japonica rice cultivar developed from Ilpumbyeo mutation lines of N-methyl-N-nitrosourea2002. This cultivar has about 139 days of growth duration from transplanting to harvest in central plain area of Korea. It has agod semi-erect plant type and is resistant to lodging with short culm. The number of panicle/hill of Goamy 2 is similar to thatsratio of ripened grains and 1,000-grain weight than those of Hwaseongbyeo. The grains of Goamy 2 have high amylose content(28.1%) and very low milling recovery (polished/rough) compared with Hwaseongbyeo, and translucent. This cultivar has nonrice cultivar has slow leaf senescence and moderate tolerance to viviparous germination during the ripening stage. Goamy 2 issusceptible to leaf blast, bacterial blight, virus diseases and insect pest. The yield performance of this cultivar in milled rice isthecentral and southern plain areas of Korea.
