The purpose of this study was effects of rapid weight reduction on physiological factors of ballet dancer. This study was to investigate the change of weight, fat mass, performance, blood lactate, glucose, ammonia according to the maximal exercise. The subject were 9 female ballet Dancer on C university. Independent variables for the study were weight reduction and maximal exercise, dependent value was physiological factors(HP, BP, blood glucose, lactate, ammonia). Blood samples was drawn from antecubital vein. All data were analyzed by t-test and two-way ANOVA with repeated measure on of SPSS, accepting level for all significances was above α=.05. The results were as follows : 1. Weight was significantly difference between before and after weight reduction. 2. fat mass was significantly difference between before and after weight reduction. 3. HR in resting was no significantly difference between before and after weight reduction. 4. BP in resting was no significantly difference between before and after weight reduction. 5. Performance following maximal exercise was difference between before and after weight reduction. 6. blood glucose following maximal exercise was difference between before and after weight reduction. 7. lactate following maximal exercise was difference between before and after weight reduction. 8. ammonia concentration following maximal exercise was difference between before and after weight reduction. In conclusion, weight reduction induced harmful effects on performance, and energy substrate. Therefore, this results suggested that weight reduction has associated with increased illness as well as decreased performance in dancer.
