There is a need for clinical performance evaluation methods that are reliable, valid and feasible. The Uniformed Services University of Health Science (USUHS) has been used the RIME (Reporter-Interpreter-Manager-Educator) model for 18 years in the clinical clerkship. They described the progress of students' performance during the 12-week internal medicine clerkship using the RIME framework. And formal evaluation sessions and feedback sessions that were scheduled every 3, 4 weeks through the 12-week of internal medicine clerkship significantly improved the detection rate of students with marginal fund of knowledge, compared with the global numeric rating or written comments. This method provided a rapid feedback to students on their performances during the clerkship, and it also gave faculty feedback on their evaluations. Although previous studies had some limitations in terms of study design, many studies showed that this was a reliable, valid, and feasible "real-time" clinical assessment tool. However, it is necessary to use the multiple-choice test and OSCE in addition to RIME model for overall evaluation.
