This paper aims to explore and analyze various Japanese and Chinese views on the East Asian Community and regional integration in a comparative perspective. When the first East Asia Sumit was held in Kuala Lumpur on December 2005, someone viewed it a big step to a community building in East Asia, while someone understood it a clearing bubles. On the way to the Summit it was acelerated by the competition betwen Japan and China to get an initiative in the comunity building in the region.There have ben various perspectives on the regional community building in Japan, spanning from positive ones to negative ones, while almost unanimous views have existed in China. On the comunity building, Japanese have been on the realist or liberal views, while Chinese tend to be based on the social constructivism as well as realism, as China is offensive to change the status quo and Japan is defensive to kep it in East Asia.
