Nearly all the nations are trying to severely punish sex offenders against children, because it is their duty to do that. Poland has recently passed the bill which required every pedophile to be chemically castrated on release. French is also thinking about a similar measure after being shocked by the increased recidivism of sexual offenses. Law week the Korean National Assembly also opened a public hearing on the possible introduction of chemical castration as treatment for the sexual predators who have repeatedly committed offenses against children under 13. I think that it is now time to consider the legality of that sort of treatment and to set some guidelines in making laws in the future. Chemical Castration is not an acceptable punishment for any sorts of criminals because it is inherently cruel and excessive. Nonetheless, if we conclude that there will not be any other alternatives than to severely lower the sexual ability of some dangerous people, it is inevitable to introduce it as a treatment measure not a punishment. Surely we need to respect various constitutional principles and rules for not excessively depriving the fundamental rights of the criminals. The government should also try to give much safer options for them and invest many resources for solving their psychopathic problems.
