The consumers’ cooperatives in Korea have contributed to the quality of life of consumers and producers. The performance of the cooperatives is more valuable than any other economic organizations or enterprises in the economic and social function. It is also meaningful in view of citizen’s movement. For example, consumption of environmentally sound goods, health and life security, commodity price stabilization, market structure improvement, agricultural and rural development in the era of WTO and FTA, etc. In the other hand, the problems and tasks of consumers’ cooperatives are as follows; Amendment of the Consumers’ Cooperative Act, publicity and raising recognition of the cooperatives, cooperation between cooperatives, business diversification, more reinforcement in education and training, R & D.
