Japanese Police promote various victim support program based on victims' needs as follows. 1. Offering Information to a victim Japanese Police manufacture and give out a pamphlet to victims "Guidance of a victim", in which is included general matters such as a flow of a criminal procedure etc. And, according to "Victim connection system", information about the situation of criminal investigation etc is offered to a victim. Furthermore, Victim visit/connection activities at victims' desire are did by a local policeman. 2. Improvement of counseling & consultation system In order to respond to various consultations from a victim, various victim-consultation-windows are installed. And to support recovery of mental shock of a victim is carried out counseling. 3. providing compensation to a victim Economical support is offered to bereaved family and a victim, who received a serious injury or is obliged to long-term hospitalization treatment. 4. mitigation of a victim's burden in the process of criminal investigation In the process of criminal investigation, careful consideration is given in oder to secondary victim such as a mental burden, which may be inflicted on a victim. 5. insurance of the safety of a victim. In order to prevent retaliation that can be again inflicted from a criminal, it is strived for insurance of the safety of a victim. 6. In sex crime, crime against juveniles, gang crime and home violent crime etc., various victim support program are promoted according to the characteristic of victim.
