The purpose of this study was to identify and diagnose Korean adult awareness of e-Learning, the new methodology of teaching and learning. The study was conducted over the phone. A total of 1,005 respondents were sampled from the 20～50 age group through stratified random sampling based on population ratio. The questionnaire dealt with the following items: (1) awareness of e-Learning; (2) relative awareness of e-Learning as compared to traditional education; (3) willingness to participate in e-Learning; and demand/needs for program development and expectations for the future of e-Learning. The major findings of this study were as follows: First, generally, Korea adults are well aware of e-Learning, express high expectations of it and a strong willingness to participate. Second, most individuals optimistically prospect on the future of e-Learning and expect it will expand steadily in the future. Third, contrary to such this high level of awareness, the need for policies and systematic support for -Learning is not understood sufficiently and needs to be prompted to the general public more systematically. Finally, Given that Korean adults believe that both the effect and fee of e-Learning, would be lower than traditional education(off-line education), the quality of e-Learning should be improved in the future
