According to the materials distributed by International Chamber of Commerce(ICC), it is said that Uniform Customs and Practices for Documentary Credits(UCP) which governs letter of credit transaction is undergoing revision. It is no doubts that UCP had regard to changed reality through five revision every 10 years since its formulation. So, I wonder that how much UCP will reflect changes in commercial transaction. As mentioned, since the task to revise UCP500 is under way to reflect changes in commercial transaction, I think that it is necessary to check all of these changes, especially relating to the letter of credit transactions. On that score, In this paper I reviewed letter of credit cases addressed in courts of both Korea and U.S.A. and opinions of ICC. And finally I extracted some implication as a conclusion from this collection of cases and opinions relating to letter of credit transaction.
