The pit dwellings in Joseon period were frequent in a case of being additionally investigated about 1∼2 units while surveying relics in other period. Accordingly, it has been alienated relatively compared to other historical relics. However, owing to a rise in the recently large-scale excavation investigation, many materials were cumulated. Thus, even a case is confirmed that the pit dwellings are surveyed to be formed cluster recently. Based on a rise in these materials, it reanalyzed the pit dwellings in Joseon period with escaping from a conventional research. It analyzed character of pit dwellings based on a location state, plane form, interior facilities, and excavated relics targeting 135 units available for classification among pit dwellings in Joseon period. Given seeing the plane form in dwelling, a square form can be known to form mainstream with 51% in square-system dwelling, 41% in round-system dwelling, and 8% in free type. However, diverse forms of dwellings in this way are being confirmed simultaneously within the same relics. The interior facilities are confirmed the heating & cooking arrangements and the drainage facilities. The form of possessing the largest weight among the heating & cooking arrangements is a form that allowed chimney to be projected to the outside of dwelling in the form of semicircle or long oval while allowing furnace part to be vertical digging style or making it ‘ㅠ’ form by using stone. The excavated relics are formed mainly by white porcelain.
