In this thesis, focusing on classical narratives of Hebo, in order to unveil the tales transition from classical narratives to webtoon and soap-drama in 21century. Hebo’s bride has been produced as webtoon and drama. The motif of these productions is based on human(especially virgin) sacrifice to appease Hebo. The motif has been sharing by Korea and China long before, which is an archetype of the motif. Also, the existence of Hebo appears same in Korea and China. Hebo appears not only in China Shanhaijing(山海經), Chuci(楚辭), but also in Korea the birth myth of Koguryo. Therefore, in this dissertation, investigating the narratives of Hebo that Korea and China shares, in order to study the pattern and meaning of the tale of Hebo reproduce in webtoon and drama in modern era. As a result, human sacrifice(young virgin sacrifices herself to Hebo) has been occurred in the myth changes in to the new type of relationship in modern era. Attention point is that human sacrifice in the myth is only achieved by male deity. However, in modern webtoon and drama, the relationship between female character and male deity establish equally, even further focusing on female character who actually accepts the love of deity or not. Therefore, in the webtoon and drama which are the new form of modern narrative, which means the myth is only for the male deity and male reader. However, in the modern narrative the consumer has chaged from male to female, thus the result of main agent has changed which eventually emerge the new form of romance of human and deity. The appearance of Hebo becames more humanization through webtoon and drama. This also supports the idea of relationship becomes present by female character. Therefore, this myth is not just stagnant between male deity and female, by extension, the myth transforms in to the relationship between a fine female and outstanding male. Especially, in “Hebo’s Bride 2017” the spinoff of drama has a decisive influence of making Hebo into humanization. The myth of Hebo, classical narrative and modern transformation shows that the existence of Hebo has the power to penetrates Korea and China since ancient times. This means that the only the classical contents can be valid to the reality and also the co-existence of Korea and China, the classical narrative, even more the culture to communicate should be raise from the well; what we call myth and classics.
