As the interest in new forms of written communication used on the Internet increases, the debates over it have become frequent. Internet communication language is now considered as the main cause of Korean language distortion. Internet language has emerged as a means of communication amongst the young generation. It is not desirable to see it as a something to be corrected and purified. It is proper Korean language combined with elements of fun, economical efficiency, and readability. It is time to inspect the features and significance of Internet language objectively. This study analyses the Internet bulletin board language used on the websites of broadcasting stations and tries to understand Internet language objectively. Bulletin board language shows various features that differ from daily language. There seems to be a complex of three motivations behind this phenomenon. First, bulletin board language writers seek economical efficiency in terms of speed and convenience by shortening syllables and writing words as they sound. Second, they seek different ways of expression, creating an atmosphere of fun in cyber space. The third is psychological. People seem to want to escape from daily routines and regulations. Present bulletin board language has emerged to meet these needs.
