As the fourth industrial revolution has recently been a major issue, the smart manufacturing with robotics has been pursued. Against this backgrounds, this study strived to analyze the management efficiency of businesses focused on a technology innovation factor of the domestic robotics industry, and suggested efficiency improvement as a major factor to consider. Inputs are labor costs, intangible assets, tangible assets, and ordinary research and development expense, while output is sales proceeds. The analysis targets are 32 firms in the domestic robotics industry. And DEA-SBM(Data Envelopment Analysis-Slack Based Measure) was chosen as an efficient analysis measure. As a result, management efficiency of robotics turned out to be 57.6% on average, and multiple firms demonstrated low intangible asset efficiency. It means that it is necessary to consider the efficiency improvement of intangible assets in order to enhance efficiency of businesses with inefficient operation. The analysis result of this study has relations with a recent trend of the robotics industry that highlights the development of intelligent robots. Intangible assets are closely related to knowledge assets and knowledge-based capacity of businesses, because they are core elements to realize intelligent robots. Relatively many domestic firms in the robotics industry have not secured knowledge-based capacity, so far. Therefore, it is urgently needed to establish a strategy to step up a knowledge-based and intangible asset related capacity to enhance the competitiveness in the domestic robotics industry in the future.
