Criteria of interior lighting in high school classrooms based on KS A 3011 is "G". But the lighting environment for occupants in classrooms is changed according to various factors. So characteristics of lighting environment should be surveyed and analyzed. One classroom in S high school and five classrooms in C high school were chosen. Their lighting levels and conditions were checked during lessons. Also the lighting levels of different lighting conditions and the response of students were checked too. During lessons, all lighting levels measured were in the adequate criteria, as a minimum 640lx. Uniformity ratio of illuminance was 0.16 ~ 0.29 in S highschool and 0.53 ~0.87 in C high school. When the lighting of window side were turned off in classroom, the lighting levels of S high school were in the adequate criteria as a minimum 534lx but the lighting levels of C high school were not in the afternoon. When the all lighting in classrooms were off, the all lighting levels of two high school were not in the adequate criteria. When the lighting of window side were turned off in classroom specially, most students were satisfied and the energy saving of 17,689,309kWh annually is expected in all high schools
