Since the elementary school English curriculum of has changed, teachers have made ardent efforts to improve students’ English abilities. Curriculum models and pedagogical techniques have also changed to keep up with the new Net-generation. Now as the curriculum emphasizes English skills for communication, it is increasingly more important for teachers to find methods that will support 6th grade students who are struggling to develop their writing skills. In order to motivate, support and engage students, teachers need some encouragement to adopt Web 2.0 technology that supports interaction and collaboration among users. The purpose of this study is to provide a practical learning and instructional model for using blogs to improve writing skills. The model includes; handouts of blog activities for students, worksheets and rubrics for 6thgraders’ teachers. The researcher has chosen five popular topics from English textbooks and developed fifteen sample lesson plans using three different approaches for integrating blogs into the elementary school classroom: A teacher-managed blog, group-oriented blogs, and individual-constructed blogs. Therefore, this paper might be a valuable blueprint for teachers who do not have any blogging experience, helping them to identify and apply an appropriate model or adapt it to improve English writing skills for the students in their classes.
