Owing to the complexities of the many forms our Celestina text took in its early years (1496-1526) before becoming stable in the modern era, it provides a forum for looking at its evolutionary stages and the relationships between the writers who played a role in the history of the text, first as readers, then as writers. What my study reveals is a surprising number of readers who then contributed new printed text as the early commercial race to win ever more readers was taking place.
