Ways of reading poetry in modern ageYi, Myung-ChanThe presupposition of this study is that poetry is a kind of linguistic art and the criterion of a good poem is based on the monism of form and substance. And ‘linguistic’ means that a poem is connected with a person`s life through the language. However in korean modern poetical history this humanistic concept of poetry has encoded the author centrism. But as is generally known, in this century the author centrism has been decoded by the reader centrism in world history of literature. Accordingly we have to re-code the concept of reading poetry to the critical dialogue between authors. And the voluntary experience of filling up gaps with the dialogue is very joyful. But in the post-modern point of view, ultimately a reader isn't a author but a reader. Because the voluntary reading of a reader isn't writing but reading. Although a reader makes the meaning of a text, he doesn't make the text itself. But a reader always wants to grasp completely a text. He desires to take part in a text as an author. But as long as a person is reading, he is a reader. So we convert the substance of literature education; from the impression and exception of texts into the experience of writing texts virtually. In conclusion, making poets is the ultimate aim of literature education. Not to analyze a text as a reader but to create a text as an author is the way of the best realization of one's linguistic ability.
