In our current society, there exist various exhibition area for visual arts such as nonprofit exhibition space like national and public art museum, commercial art gallery, etc. A variety of programs are being developed reflecting the unique characteristics of individual institutions. Among them, there are some institutions which specialize in photograph. The experts working at such visual art institutions are called curators. Curator is considered as the second producer in the world of art who connects the artists and the public to enhance the value of art and publicness. It is true that there exist some common things among the tasks of curators in the light of comprehensive and dictionary definition. However, with more in-depth and detailed analysis, it can be said that curators are given different tasks reflecting the characteristics of individual institutions. This research is first to analyze the tasks and professionalism of the curators working in various visual art institutions and then try to find any unique task of the curators with specialized institutions by performing job analysis of the curators with photograph specialized institutions. In the first stage, the research designs the comprehensive job model by literature analysis. In the second stage, more detailed job model for curators with various institutions has been derived by FGI. In the third stage, empirical analysis is performed through the survey of the curators with photograph specialized institution. The empirical study of job analysis for curators working in various institutions and photograph specialized institutions has academic significance of providing specific curator tasks which have been perceived vaguely in the past. Furthermore, it is to provide younger students with basic job information and hopefully to contribute the development of curator job evaluation indicator and personnel and organization system of individual institutions.
