The biological roles of glycogen synthase kinase3 (GSK3) proteins have long been extensively explored ineukaryotic organisms including fungi, animals and plants.
This gene family has evolutionary well conserved kinasedomain and shares similar phosphorylation properties totheir substrate proteins. However, their specific biologicalroles are surprisingly distinct in different organisms. GSK3splay key role in key regulating the cytoskeleton and metabolicprocesses in animal systems, but plant GSKs are involved inquite different processes, such as flower development, brassinosteroidsignaling, abiotic stresses, and organogenesis. Inparticular, recent studies have reported the critical multiplefunctions of BIN2 and its related paralogues plant GSK3sduring organogenesis via connecting hormonal or developmentalprograms. In this review, we outline the recent understandingin the versatile functions related in physiological and biochemicalrelevance, which are mediated by plant GSK3s invarious cellular signaling.
