The vigorous operations of enterprises and activities of entrepreneurs, with their overcoming the rapid changes of the environment in spite of the various kinds of the restriction caused from the social circumstances, have made a great impact on our society nowadays. Therefore, the study of business history has been founded to search the ways to cope aggressively with the problems which the enterprises come across in their business environments and business itself while they are executing their operations. Several enterprises in Korea has grown to be the global leading companies in the world. Nevertheless, the emotion of the anti-enterprise and anti-entrepreneur spread throughout the country have hindered the operations of enterprises in Korea. This awesome emotion has been caused by the shortage of the study of business history which should explore and explain the merits and demerits of Korean enterprises to the people who have advocated anti-enterprise movements. This paper aims to find the approaching methodologies of American business history by analyzing the cases of American business history and to apply it to the study of the Korean business history. This paper provides the following three approaching methodologies; 1) the methodology to approach the traditional business history, 2) the methodology to approach the entrepreneurial history, 3) the methodoloty to approach the organizational history. These methodologies are not independent but mutually complementary. These will lead us to find the proper methodology of the study on Korean business history. And these three methodologies will finally contribute to the fair evaluation for enterprises and entrepreneurs and the development of the future study of Korean business history.
