This study investigated the perceptions of parents who had a child with a disability regarding their child's grandparents' involvement and support. The study included 158 parents of children with severe disabilities. The parent participants completed the Grandparent Involvement Scale (GIS) and the Grandparent Support Scale (GSS). In addition, the participants responded to an open-ended question regarding the grandparents' role and impact on their families. The results of the GIS and GSS showed that: (a) grandmothers in the study had higher scores than grandfathers, (b) maternal grandmothers had higher scores than paternal grandmothers, and (c) maternal grandfathers had higher scores than paternal grandfathers. In the open-ended question responses, parents noted the needs for emotional and practical support from grandparents, the grandparents' positive roles, the grandparents' adjustment difficulty, and the impact of the grandparents' age and geographical distance on grandparental involvement and support.
