This study performed research to find out forming power of permanent wave and damage of hair by agitating Effective Microorganism(EM) in the generally used thioglycolates(TG) and TG with the use of the EM before and after applying oxidizing agent(2nd agent) with TG + EM (pH 8.67), TG + EM (pH 7.5) and cysteine(CY, pH 8.67) as reducing agents, and the results are summed up as follows:As a result of measuring the forming power of permanent wave, the hairs that underwent treatment with TG + EM (pH 8.67) and were applied with the 2nd agent after applying EM at pH balance showed the highest power of forming wave among the hairs in all the control groups and experiment groups. As for hair tensile strength, the hairs that underwent treatment with TG + EM (pH 7.5) and were applied with the 2nd agent showed highest value among experiment groups and control groups. The experiment group which is applied with EM at pH balance and with the 2nd agent after treatment with TG + EM (pH 8.67) was observed to have the most thmogenous and most tightly stuck hairs scale among all the experiment groups and control group. The results of this study Judging from the fact the pH 8.67 solution that resulted from agitating Effective Microorganism(EM) in thioglycolate showed clear wave formation and high tensile strength, the solution is estimated to be effective for use for treatment or pH balance as solution mixed at proper ratio according to hair quality.
