The aim of this tudy is to analyze the change proces and char acteristics of the government's rural areadevelopment policies implemented so far and present an aid a s adequate material to the direction ofdevelopment policy for ural area. The rural area developme nt policy had ben focused on maintenance ofphysical infrastructure facilities in the rural areas, pur suing urban convenience led by the government fromthe 1950s to 190s. The policy has changed to local residents -led rural area development from the late 190sto present ime. The basic direction of the policy turned int o making much of environment-friendlines andpromotion of regional activation. The policy was transform ed to recognize our ural area nd also perceive itpastoral and resting space. In adition, gren tourism has e merged as an important heme since 20. In therural area development policy, it is the most important o co nect it with various development projects, selecttarget areas from the long-term perspective and pursue fi ciency through intensified investment of inancialresources.
