The objectives of this study are to analyze the current status of rural industrial estate located in rural Kyongnam province, and to find out the development problems of rural industrial estate by spatial location of rural region.
However, it is found out that manufacturing establishments located in rural industrial estate have not employed sufficient manufacturing workers for their production activities, mainly became of the shortage in the rural labor forces, and that rural establishments are small business which are characterized to the shortage of operating capital used in the production process of manufacturing commodities.
These problems occur the shut - down of rural establishment, together with the manufacturing productivity located in the comparative disadvanteged rural industrial estate.
In conclusion, through these problems such as the shortages of operating capital in the rural establishments and the limited rural employment, it is suggested that the development of rural inc!ustrial estate has not oontnbuted to sua:essfully increse off - farm employment opportunities and farm household income. Especially, development of rural industrial estate located in the depressed rural areas has not contributed to the growth of the rural economy and rural settlement development.
Thus, it is remained to the research issues to carry out the comprehensive and systematic studies, concerning about impacts of rural industrial estate on the depressd rural areas.
