The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects of score satisfaction and peer attachment on the self-esteem and to find out any differences between later childhood and early adolescence. The data of fourth-graders, at wave 2 and wave 4, from Korean Child and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) were used. Participants were consisted of 612 boys and 578 girls at the time of the fifth- and the seventh-grade. Measuring variables were self-esteem, score satisfaction and peer attachment which is divided into peer communication, peer trust, and peer alienation. Data were analysed by the correlation analysis and path analysis with SPSS(V.18.0) and AMOS(v.18.0). Bootstrapping method was adopted to test the mediation effects. Results showed significant correlations between the two groups eccept for the fifth-graders' peer communication and the seventh-graders' peer alienation. The score satisfaction explained for the self-esteem directly and indirectly via the peer attachment. The more satisfied with their scores, the higher their self-esteem were. In addition, participants who were satisfied with their scores were positively attached to peers and connectively showed high self-esteem. The effects of peer attachment to self-esteem were not different between grades, but the effects of score satisfaction on the self-esteem were weaker in early adolescence than in later childhood.
