This is the writing that examined the characteristics of Cheong In-bo's understanding about Yang-ming studies. The characteristics of Chong In-bo's view of Yang-ming studies are well indicated in understanding about the theory of innate knowledge of original mind(本心良知說), the doctrine of loving the people(親民說), the theory of regarding all things as one body(萬物一體說), and the doctrine of the extension of innate knowledge(致良知說). The characteristics of Cheong In-bo's understanding about the innate knowledge of original mind in Yang-ming studies can be summarized largely as two things. One is a point that allowed the self-consciousness on original mind to be easy by prescribing the original mind as ‘being sincere without falsehood(一眞無假).’ Another is a point that uplifted the spirit of salvation of the people by emphasizing ‘being acted upon and penetrating things(感通)’ in the original mind. The characteristics of Cheong In-bo's understanding about the doctrine of loving the people(親民說) and the theory of regarding all things as one body(萬物一體說) in Yang-ming studies include a point that regards all those things as being formed by 'being acted upon and penetrating things' in the original mind. On the one hand the doctrine of loving the people is what the original mind is acted upon and penetrates the people. On the other hand, the theory of regarding all things as one body is what the original mind is acted upon and penetrates all things. This has significance in a sense that enabled the unificative understanding about Yang-ming studies by reducing the doctrine of loving the people and the theory of regarding all things as one body, which are the main theories in Yang-ming studies, to the theory of ‘original mind is acted upon and penetrates things.’ The characteristics of Cheong In-bo's understanding about the doctrine of ‘the extension of innate knowledge’ in Yang-ming studies can be found in interpreting ‘extension(致)’ in ‘extension of innate knowledge(致良知)’ as completing(完成). This interpretation on the ‘extension(致)’ is put a thought that ‘innate knowledge is in a state of failing to be completed yet’, ‘thereby requiring to be completed.’ This is what attaches importance to the gradual efforts that rectify the incorrectness of one's will and thought in the concrete event in which they are revealed.
