The expanding the market of leisure activities is being leaded by people pursuing better life quality as well as having more holidays since the beginning of 21C. Spaces for leisure activities such as museums and theme parks have been increased as the result of the social phenomena. With being financially effective, water parks as one of the theme park types have furnished hydro amusement for urbanite. Therefore, this study not only categorizes water parks, but examines the characteristics of visitors after defining the spatial concept and attraction to provide the basic data for the space design and facility plan of a new water park. For further research, the notion for a water park and specialty are defined by researching previous studies and records. The second, the typological method is defined by the locational condition and types of applying attractions. The third, the water parks are divided as 4 types as the result of analyzing domestic parks. Lastly, the characteristics of the visitors are defined by the each type of the parks
