This article explores some methodologies and debates on women’s history over the several decades. what is, now, women’s history? is it discovery of famous women in history? does it research on the power relation? what is the result of debates on women and gender history? why does gender history require feminist approach? The present goal of women’s history is 1) to change the discipline fundamentally by writing women into history by 2) taking the rightful place in history academic field as feminist historians and 3) to provide an important grounding for both feminist politics and feminist theory by feminist reconceptualization of history and the production of knowledges about the past of women. The women’s history in Korea, including Western, Chinese and Korean women’s histories, has been failed taking the rightful place in a history discipline as feminist historians and providing an important grounding for both feminist politics and feminist theory, although the methodological change of history research has been brought in, beyond male centered research. In order to achieve the present task of women’s history, feminist historians should be properly placed in history discipline. To secure a rightful place in a history academia as a historian provides an gender equality of result to adopt as an urgent agenda of 21st century feminism.
