This study of Heidegger's later thinking is intended to clarify the essence of human-being with focusing on Sophocles's tragedies Oedipus the King and Oedipus at Colonus. For Heidegger greek myth and tragedies are neither ancient great artworks nor aesthetically prominent poems but abundant thinking's sources which today's demythologizing thinking had been beared in it's beginnings. But the study of Heidegger's analysis on greek myth and tragedies are not plentiful. In this circumstances, this study would like to deal with the meaning of poetic language and the Greek of Heidegger and then elucidating the essence of human-being through Oedipus as tragic personality. First of all, for Heidegger language is not a intellectual's mere tool but a basic phenomenon concealing human-being's ontological meaning. Poetic language is conserving human-being's relation with Being as various experiences which man has been gained through history and as overwhelming power beyond these experiences. And also for Heidegger the Greek is the thinking's original source from which the Western thought are started. Heidegger understands this source as eschatological point of view and says that the Greek is not the past cutting off from today but the container conserving the foreboding and the coming of the future. In this respects Heidegger does not consider Oedipus's character as hybris nor incestuous desire. For Heidegger Oedipus is human-being's essential figure depriving from his own's Being as Ek-sisitence. In Oedipus the King, he is the man who plunders the truth of Being by using humanistic reasoning. And Oedipus at Colonusis is showing man's another figure to plunge into his own essential relation with Being. In later one, letting himself into essential relation with Being, Oedipus turns into the forecaster. The forecaster is the man who receives his own's fate and fore-casts the coming in one's fate. In this respects, his madness is becoming his redemption for staying in his own essence. In result, human-being's fate in greek spirits does not belong to oneself but Being's ‘Geschick' as the more overwhelming one. Heidegger is showing with Oedipus that the most demanding thing for historical human-being is the returning to the original ground where is called hometown and true human-being's essence is going into the original safety.
