This interaction creates and Gando dominium problem in East Asia between countries such as Korea, China and Japan during 18th-20th. This paper analyze why Gando was so important factor in determining the border between the countries of Korea and China. This is very important part for recognizing the whole meaning of the border between Asian countries especially how Korea and China was realized the meaning from frontier to exact border line of country and how to protect their conflicts of interests. The issue of Gando is closely related to the establishment of the modern nation state and nationalism in East Asia. What dynamic relationships are between the emerging issue of Gando and the development of modern consciousness of land and imperialism (or nationalism)? How do the maps embody the ideas and notions of the time? The atlas, the representation of the world drawn in the human mind, is a go-between of the human inner spiritual world and the external physical world, and it is also a mirror reflecting culture, which is a significant and fundamental means of understanding the universality of human spirit on a broad scale. Therefore, this essay will attempt to use the atlas in interpreting history.
