The purpose of this study was to identify self-actualization of individuals with physical disabilities participating in physical activity and living in Seoul city and Kyeonggi province. Subjects included 175 (male: 116, female: 59) individuals with physical disabilities. The questionnaire that was developed by Shostrom (1964) was used to identify self-actualization of individuals with physical disabilities. It was revised by Kim Jae-Eun & Lee Kwang-Ja (1983), Seol Ki-Moon (1995), which consisted of 5 factors, and 18-item. Construct validity of the instrument was checked by Factor analysis. Reliability of questions was confirmed by Cronbach's α value (.752). Data analyses were Independent t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Multiple Regression. The results were as follows: First, ages, jobs, and incomes had significant effects on self-actualization. Second, friends, physical educator, and mass media had significant effects on self-actualization. Third, frequencies and years of sports participation had significant effects on self-actualization. Fourth, group exercise participants had more significant difference than individual exercise participants on self-actualization. Fifth, athletes with disabilities had more significant difference than sports for all participants on self-actualization. These results imply that individuals with physical disabilities participating in physical activity would have an effect on self-actualization according to socio-demographic variable, significant others, participation degree of physical activity, type of physical activity, and participation type of physical activity.
