A Study of Community Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse's Activity

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the activities of community psychiatric mental health nurse. Method: The preliminary list of 234 activities were developed by comprehensive literature review and psychiatric mental health professional group interview. 219 nursing activity items were drawn through two content validity test. To draw the perceived degree of importance and frequency of performance of each activity items, we collected the degree of importance and frequency data from 60 psychiatric mental health nurses, 27 mental health social workers and 9 faculties. Result: According to these data, we confirmed 7 roles, 11 duties, 37 tasks, and 219 nursing activities of community psychiatric mental health nurse. Conclusion: It is needed to be study to refine the categories of psychiatric mental health nurse's activities and continued study is needed to define the community psychiatric mental health nurse's role and to develope psychiatric mental health nursing standard.
