The Development of Competency Focused Cognitive Behavioral Program for the Adolescents with Drinking Problem Parents* Hyun, Myung-Sun1)·Nam, Kyoung A2) 1) Associate Professor, College of Nursing, Ajou University 2) Instructor, School of Nursing, Hanzhong University Purpose: The study was designed to develop a competency focused cognitive-behavioral program for adolescents with alcoholic parents. Method: The study was conducted from September 2004 to August 2005. For developing the program, related literature was reviewed and needs assessment survey for the program among adolescents was done. Based on the Competency model suggested by Albee(1978), a program was developed. Results: The developed program consisted of five parts -Opening, Raising self-consciousness and reviewing risk factors, Identifying risk factors and unhealthy coping strategies, Developing healthy coping strategies and protective factors, and Closing-. Conclusion: The program developed in this study has structured and specific content for each session, it may be useful to replicate the program for the Children of the alcoholics in other settings.
