Transnational Diasporas are performing dynamically in the international stage against the background of globalization motivated by neo-liberalism. The network of Chinese Diasporas with its largest scale shows both the common and diverse features owing to their diverse living spaces.
This paper, from the perspective of Diaspora, explores the feature, status and future development of the Overseas Chinese in Korea. Overseas Chinese in Korea are multicognitive with strong racial perceptions. Their political identity can be classified into three categories: the People’s Republic of China–oriented, One China–oriented and "Republic of China"–oriented.
The Overseas Chinese, contributing to the history of Diasporas like other ethnic immigrants, have been opening up their living space to accommodate themselves to the increasing changes of their environments as well as promoting global economic activities and developing the multi-culture of Korean society because they require two or more languages basically. In order to exploit the resources of Chinese communities in Korea, Korean government should take measures from three aspects: First, improve the system which has limited their development. Second, make greater efforts to build Chinatown, Third, recruit talents among Overseas Chinese.
